I have been greatly blessed by Martha Stewart! Let the punishment fit the crime.
Why should she be publicly flogged just because people are jealous of her?
Yes Kathy, it is ridiculous how much we are hearing about this. Not to excuse anything illegal, but the punishment does not seem to fit the crime. It also makes no sense why we are hearing so much about this, like Janet Jackson’s boob.
Count me in among Martha’s supporters. I think her prosecution had more to do with a prosecutor’s longing for the headlines than anything else.
I have also benefitted a great deal from Martha, Inc — heck, I would subscribe to the magazine just to look at the pictures, even if I’d never learned anything practical! (by the way, the April issue has cute ideas for Easter eggs using origami paper and Mod-Podge)
And what’s up with these people who complain, “Martha makes women feel inadequate, one woman can’t really do all that” — no, really? next they’ll be telling us that the elves don’t really make the toys that Santa brings on Christmas, that Santa outsources to Nintendo and Mattel.
Oh well. Martha is a fallen-away Catholic, so she’s been in need of prayer before she ever made that stock sale.
I have to admit one night I was looking at the one Martha Stewart recipe book I ever bought, which was in the bedroom for some reason, and in spite of my queasiness and many many food aversions some of that stuff looked pretty appetizing. This was at a stage where the thought of people paying $$$ for fancy restaurant food boggled my mind, let alone people wanting to eat homemade meatloaf.
No real knowledge or opinion of the case though.
