Please pray for the soul of James Cardinal Hickey, archbishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Washington, who died this morning at the age of 84.
Cardinal Hickey once did me a great kindness. One year, we were invited to write down our prayer requests on our pledge cards for the Cardinal’s Stewardship Appeal. So I wrote mine in — and, a few weeks later, received a personal note from the Cardinal assuring me of his prayers for my intention. And my prayer was answered a couple of years later when Hambet was born.

Now that he is (hopefully) in Heaven, I would renew asking him for prayers. And in case he hasn’t made it there yet, prayers for his soul in Purgatory are headed that way!
A dear friend had a similar experience with Cardinal Law….her daughter was born a year later and given the middle name, Bernardette. So I have mixed feelings about him :/
I am glad your prayer was answered so beautifully. I will pray for the repose of Cardinal Hickey’s soul, and also for you, that your little baby will arrive safely on or before the Feast of All Saints!
