Peony: Bleg — Poetry for little boys to memorize?

Hambet’s teacher has suggested that he read and memorize some poems. Any suggestions of poems or collections? (Yes, “If” is on the list, but for the future.) Hambet, believe it or not, is seven years old…..

  1. I am not sure of specific poems (I always found it had t do with the child’s taste” we have had success with poems from these books:
    Emma Searle’s Primary Language Lessons
    Shel Silverstein’s A Light in the Attic
    Favorite Poems Young and Old
    A Child’s Garden of Verses

  2. Check out Laura Berquist’s The Harp and the Laurel Wreath. We used it extensively with the Zman when he was the Zboy and homeschooling.
    I’ll ask him what his favorites were when I can scrape him away from his textbooks (next week is finals week)…..
