FAST<\/b><\/font color><br \/>\nI have all kinds of things I want to blog on, including discussions of three or four books, but I am looking over the calendar and realizing that we have a major family holiday on Saturday &#8212; little Hambet is turning two &#8212; and it&#8217;s Thursday.<br \/>\nSo, gentle readers, any ideas for presents that might please a two-year-old?<br \/>\nI am so bad about planning for holidays.  For example, I have noticed that, every year, Christmas falls on December 25 .  The only way that I can make sure that I get presents shipped on time &#8212; and have something to put under our own tree &#8212; is to sit down with the calendar in July and start marking off reminders, starting with October:  &#8220;Start shopping for presents.&#8221;  &#8220;Check to make sure there&#8217;s enough tape and gift wrap.&#8221;  &#8220;Wrap presents.&#8221;  &#8220;Do you have enough packing material?&#8221;  &#8220;Pack presents.&#8221;  Call UPS.&#8221;<br \/>\nI need to do this with every holiday.  For example, February 12 is probably too late to buy Valentines if they need to be mailed.  And I need to build in plenty of lead time for things like snow, sick children, etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ideas needed.
