As"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>I am a victim.<\/b><br \/>\nAs the descendant of German-speaking immigrants, I am personally offended by the rise in France-bashing.  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.moss-place.blogspot.com\/2003_02_23_moss-place_archive.html#89629855\">This intolerant attack on all things French<\/a> is reminiscent of the national hysteria over all things German during the First World War, when frankfurters were renamed &#8220;liberty dogs,&#8221; places with German-derived names got new, more &#8220;patriotic&#8221; names (for example, Saratoga Street in Baltimore used to be named German Street), and Americans who were German-speaking or even had German surnames were maligned as spies or even attacked.<br \/>\nBecause today&#8217;s France-bashing, or frog-ism, reminds me of our country&#8217;s past German-bashing, or kraut-ism sentiment of the past,  I feel personally marginalized.<br \/>\nI am therefore entitled to a public apology and a big pile of money.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am a victim.
