{"id":1764,"date":"2006-03-31T13:02:17","date_gmt":"2006-03-31T18:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/moss-place.stblogs.org\/?p=1764"},"modified":"2006-03-31T13:02:17","modified_gmt":"2006-03-31T18:02:17","slug":"one-year-ago-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/moss-place.stblogs.org\/index.php\/2006\/03\/one-year-ago-to\/","title":{"rendered":"One year ago today&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;a disabled woman died because her husband wouldn&#8217;t feed her and didn&#8217;t think anyone else should feed her either.<br \/>\nThe case went before a judge and the judge <s>found the husband guilty of felony neglect and sent him to jail<\/s> <s>appointed a guardian for the disabled woman<\/s> ordered the police to arrest anyone who as much as tried to moisten the woman&#8217;s lips with water.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, women&#8217;s advocacy groups such as NOW <s>demanded to know why a man who was shacking up with another woman and stood to inherit a pile of money when his wife died was permitted to be the disabled woman&#8217;s guardian<\/s> <s>demanded an investigation into past allegations of abuse and neglect<\/s> had nothing to say.<br \/>\nThe mainstream media <s>did serious investigative journalism into the disabled woman&#8217;s original injuries<\/s> <s>publicized interviews with nurses who&#8217;d cared for the disabled woman in the past<\/s> <s>demonstrated their concern for the rights of the disabled by publicizing the serious concerns that the disability community had about this case<\/s> <s>did a profile on George Felos that included his claims to be able to psychically communicate with brain-damaged patients<\/s> repeated whatever the husband&#8217;s lawyer told them.<br \/>\nThe doctor who was ordered to remove the feeding tube <s>told the husband to go to hell<\/s> did it.<br \/>\nOne year ago, a woman who had committed no crime and was tried by no jury was ordered by a judge to be starved to death.
