\n1. One book that changed your life:<\/strong> An old paperback I picked up for seventy-five cents at a used bookstore in Baltimore: The Man Who Was Chesterton<\/em>, an old Image anthology. And before that, Poetic Meter and Poetic Form<\/em>, by Paul Fussell.
\n2. One book that you’ve read more than once:<\/strong> Look Inside Cross-Sections: Trains<\/em>, by Michael Johnstone. I’ve read this one way <\/em>more than once.
\n3. One book you’d want on a desert island:<\/strong> Dear Mr Luse asks, Who would want just one book on an island? You’d want a library, wouldn’t you?<\/em> I would. And I think Mark Windsor<\/a> has the right idea: I’d want the Aubreyad, in 21 volumes.
\n4. One book that made you laugh:<\/strong> Most recently? H.W. Fowler’s Dictionary of Modern English Usage<\/em> (that “elegant variation” entry really brings the funny).
\n5. One book that made you cry:<\/strong> The Clown of God<\/em> by Tomie DePaola. Gets me every time.
\n6. One book that you wish had been written:<\/strong> How to Work All Those Colors in the Needlepoint Christmas Stocking Kit You Bought Last Year and Never Finished<\/em>.
\n7. One book that you wish had never been written:<\/strong> Confessions, by Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
\n8. One book you’re currently reading:<\/strong> The Temperament God Gave You<\/em>, by Art and Laraine Bennett.
\n9. One book you’ve been meaning to read:<\/strong> The Conservative Mind<\/em>, by Russell Kirk.
