Does it make you sad or mad? Well, I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if it aggravates Lady Elaine Fairchilde as well, who I always thought was the type who would be really steamed about the Vatican \u201cvisitation\u201d of American nuns too.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/p>\n<div>I must protest! &nbsp;Once again, Lady Elaine is slandered. &nbsp;I think she would be delighted by the increased use of ad orientem (and would be steamed by being grouped with the silly people steamed by the Apostolic Visitation.)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We know, after all, that Lady Elaine has a deep respect for tradition &#8212; is she not the curator of a museum? &nbsp;We also know that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neighborhoodarchive.com\/mrn\/mrn\/episodes\/1495\/index.html\">she is organized and focused<\/a>, and resists <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neighborhoodarchive.com\/mrn\/mrn\/episodes\/1487\/index.html\">capricious p.c. meddling<\/a>. &nbsp;And if something goes wrong, does she shrug and say, oh, well, that&#8217;s the way it is? &nbsp;No!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"webkit-indent-blockquote\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 40px; border: none; padding: 10px;\">\n<div>Father Friday: &nbsp;Fairchilde, I have decided that the congregation must not be barricaded off from me.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/moss-place.stblogs.org\/assets_c\/2011\/02\/Fairchilde-300x225-thumb-200x150-8586.jpg\" alt=\"Fairchilde-300x225.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: left; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;\" \/><\/p>\n<div>So I shall have this altar rail removed and taken to the dumpster.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lady Elaine: &nbsp;That&#8217;s what you think, Toots! &nbsp;Boomerang, Toomerang, Soomerang! &nbsp;(whisks altar rail to safety in the Museum-Go-Round.)<\/p>\n<p>++++<\/p><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sister Orbis Rotunda: &nbsp;Lady Elaine, would you like to help me and the other Sisters advocate for new paradigms of caring justice?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lady Elaine: &nbsp;I thought you cared for old people in the nursing home.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sister: &nbsp;Oh, no, we have advanced beyond that.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lady Elaine: &nbsp;So who&#8217;s caring for the old people?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Sister: &nbsp;We are being prophetic.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lady Elaine: &nbsp;Whatever, Toots. &nbsp;You go be prophetic. &nbsp;Me? &nbsp;I&#8217;m going to go visit the old people.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>+++<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Father Tuesday: &nbsp;I&#8217;d like to say Mass the way the Holy Father says it, but I can&#8217;t find the old candlesticks the parish used to have.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Lady Elaine: &nbsp;Ah-ha! &nbsp;Friday thought they were gone for good, but&#8230; BOOMERANG, TOOMERANG, SOOMERANG! &nbsp;(six brass candlesticks appear)<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Catholic Phoenix reports&nbsp;(with video)&nbsp;on the Holy Father saying Mass in the Ordinary Form ad orientem,&nbsp;using an extended Mr Rogers&#8217; Neighborhood metaphor. &nbsp;Which is all well and good, until&#8230;.
