Disputations reminds us that today is Talk like a Pirate Day!

Zooey's going to love this. He got into pirate talking when he was two and learning to use the toilet. He misunderstood and would say "pirate parts" instead of "private parts" -- followed by scrunching one eye closed and hollering "Arrrrgh!" It was so hilarious, we kept teaching him more pirate things to say. Other families use "tinkle" or "number two" but our kid would say, "Avast, matey, that bottl'o rum is ready to walk the plank" or "Arrrgh, there's a mutiny aboard ship, and I must send Long John Silver to his watery grave..."

Sure made toileting a lot more fun. Or funny, anyway.

In our family pirate has a definite Wiggles context.

Ahoy there, me hearties, it's a pirate party!

I have to tell you all, I had never heard of the Wiggles before John, Bethany and I had dinner and an overnight at Erik's (Thanks, Erik and Melanie!).
You have to picture this - my sober husband and my 14 y/o 'too cool for words' daughter sitting and watching the Wiggles over and over and over again!
