The man's a flaming idiot. He appears to think that, because the toys belonged to his ex-wife, the law doesn't apply to him. Comparatively few people grasp that laws can trip them up even if they don't think they're doing anything wrong. The best example of widespread cluelessness about the law is copyright violation. If you tell someone you won't make a copy of a CD for him, he'll tell you that it's all right as long as you're not going to sell it. In fact it's illegal to make an unauthorized copy of ANY copyrighted material, even if you dig a hole and bury the thing in the backyard. People just don't get it about the law. If one of those Beanies is a fake, Mr. Charm on eBay will be in big trouble; and if his ex gets after him for selling her property, he's hip deep in sheep dip.
