Happy Easter

Back from visiting the in-laws in Pittsburgh for Easter. We had a good visit, but the logistics of travel kept me from attending any of the Triduum liturgies. How I miss them. The closest I got was hearing the Exsultet on EWTN on the hotel room TV -- well, a little, anyway, before I had to get up again and try to prevent Hambet from dismantling something else in the hotel room.

Jumbled thoughts, nothing jelling enough for a blog post, about chest freezers, What I Did For My Lenten Resolution, recent delightful finds at used bookstores and book sales, the sensation that you are left behind waving a flag on the sidewalk while everyone else gets to march in the parade, and the inhuman cruelty of the layout of the ladies' room at the Mickey D's in Breezewood, PA.

I'm going to try to get the Easter template up. Meanwhile, I would be very grateful for prayers for a friend of mine who got some bad news on Thursday night. Thanks so much.

prayers for your friend.

Now I know why we never got the snow that the weather forecasters were calling for... you were visiting the 'burgh and that automatically cancels out snow on Easter :)

Isn't Breezewood a trip & a half? Have you ever stopped at the all-night cafeteria there? It's an absolute ZOO on Jan 22. This year, the line for the women's room wound the whole way around the inside.

(If you're unfamiliar, Breezewood is basically a huge truck stop. They call themselves the motel capital of the world or something equally cheesy. It's also pretty much the last good stopping spot before leaving PA to go to DC)

Can't imagine what the problem was with the ladies' room, but I had to stop in one in White Marsh, Maryland, which was just so amazingly small I could hardly get in and out. It reminds me of how they say houses used to have lower roofs/ceilings/doorways because people were shorter -- but I don't think people in White Marsh, MD tend to be thinner and narrower for any particular reason, and certainly not the customers at McDonald's...
