VH-1 is posting the 50 Worst Songs.

I think I would add that Let's Just Kiss and Say Good-bye song by who is that, the Brooklyn Bridge? Give me a chance I will think of some more. Add your own.

Any list that picks on "Broken Wings" and omits anything by Bonnie "Total Eclipse of the Heart" Tyler is by definition lame. They are picking too much on '80's music, too, what's up with that? There is plenty of awful music from the hallowed '60's and '70's that should go on there.

Lol! I totally agree with Peony!

But I must say, Color Me Badd is just Bad (as in not good--definitely not phat).

OK, but I must admit that I kinda sorta had a crush on Corey Hart in the 80's. And why is Ricky Martin on the list? Granted, he's not great, but "She Bangs," is not awful. lol "We built this City on Rock and Roll" still makes me cringe! Grace, what was up with that?!?!?

Yeah, most of these are pretty awful. And the top two songs actually do make me cringe and want to throw something every time I hear them.

Songs that I don't care for:
"Mr. Big Stuff" by Jean Knight
"I Love the Nightlife" by Alicia Bridges
"Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips with Me" by Tiny Tim
"Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart
"Feelings" by Morris Albert
"Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood
"We Are the World" by USA for Africa
"Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora
"Respect Yourself" by Bruce Willis
"It's My Life" by Bon Jovi
"Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles
"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina & the Waves
"Love Potion #9" by the Searchers
"The Way it Is" by Bruce Hornsby & the Range
"War" by Edwin Starr
"Mr. Lonely" by Bobby Vinton
"The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens
"In the Year 2525" by Zager & Evans

"Kiss & Say Goodbye" was by the Manhattans. I guess adultery was a hot topic with '70s R&B.

The worst thing about compiling the worst songs is that they get stuck in your head.

Okay, how about "Dancing On The Ceiling (Oh what a feeling)" by Lionel Ritchie?

I agree with 49 of the 50. I still kinda like "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes (although I think they should win for worst band name).

Is that the song that goes..."I wake up in the morning and I step outside, take a deep breath...What's going on?"

Peony,
I like Total Eclipse of the Heart. Remember that really cool 80's video with the guys with wings and the dude with glowing eyes? LOL
Alex,
That is a good bad list? You do know Josh and Ian love that Bon Jovi song. What about We are The world? Oh we thought that was so coll when I was in 6th grade!
And that dancing on the ceiling song is horrendous!

I don't know - just something about that whole genre - a bunch of '80s stars in one room holding headphones up to their ear while singing to benefit Africa. Band Aid had all of the British people - all with the exception of Kool & the Gang - and USA for Africa - which had all Americans, except for Dan Akroyd (why?). Everyone who couldn't get into one of those had some wannabe project to go to. I guess it's okay, but it's just so '80s.

It could be much worse. One song I forgot to put on the list was "The Super Bowl Shuffle" - that song that the Chicago Bears made after the '85 season. Sports teams don't make music, let alone rap music.

Fine, sister, I'll give in about "We Are the World." I probably would react differently about it if I hadn't been born in 1985. I probably would've been one of the millions who bought the album or the 45 if I had been born one generation before.

No, "We Are The World" is not nearly as bad as "Hands Across America" although I will concede that in retrospect "We are the World" is corny, but it was not then.Or even worse, that "Dear Mr. Jesus" song. Especially when we look at Michael Jackson now.

You know what song I also really hate? "The Rythm is Gonna Get You" by the Miami Sound Machine. I think I hate it more because Gloria Estefan is very talented, but that was like one of their most popular songs, and it was terrible.

Alex is right about these--true shudderers!
"I Love the Nightlife" by Alicia Bridges
"Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips with Me" by Tiny Tim
"Da Ya Think I'm Sexy" by Rod Stewart
"Feelings" by Morris Albert

I want--"ak-shawn!" UGGGH!

Has anybody ever listened to the lyrics of "Disco Inferno," by the Trammps (and covered by Tina Turner)? Absurd!

Does anybody remember "I Gotcha!" from 1972 by Joe Tex! That's definitely one of mine. Plus "You Sexy Thing" from the mid-70s.

Also "Love to Love You Baby", by Donna Summer

How 'bout 'How Will I Know' by Whitney Houston? BLECH!!!

Nicole

Oh I love that song by Whitney. Whitney's first album was awesome. That was when that girl had talent!

Pansy,

Sorry, but "The Rhythm is Gonna Get You" is really not that bad of a song. Estefan has done better, but it is not nearly as bad as "We Built This City"

KTC -- would that be that gem with the refrain, "FEEEEEEEEEE-LINGS,
wo, wo, wo, FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-LINGS,
wo, wo, wo," etc?

*shudder*
