Well, I was a good citizen do-bee yesterday and researched all the candidates and questions on the ballot.
Here in Maryland, the idea of a two-party system is still catching on, so it didn't surprise me that I couldn't help the President with a few electoral votes (though I could do my part for the popular vote.) And it didn't surprise me that my choices for Senator and Representative didn't win either.
But all the ballot questions I voted "yes" for also failed. And all the school board candidates I voted for also lost! At first I thought, well, it was because I didn't vote for incumbents. (I usually never vote for incumbents in local elections.) But there was one incumbent I did vote for -- and he lost!
So remind me not to post my own voter's guide next year.
Wow. States sure differ greatly. I believe everyone I voted for won.
Although I share the same pathetic socialist state with you, I was lucky enough to have pro-life Roscoe Bartlett as my homie.
And one of the 2 school board candidates I voted for got it, but I would have preferred the other one. Since Maryland lists candidates in alphabetical order, and since his name began with a W, he had no chance.
I believe, dear Mighty Barrister, that you live in a saner part of the state than I do. Did you see the "profile" the Post did on Bartlett a couple of months ago?
i'm just grateful that i live in a red state so that i could vote for my true love and not worry that my wittle vote would swing the state. no chance of that. thank You, Lord.
