Baby Oats

| | Comments (5)

Baby Fredegar is in the need for more food. Normally I hate to give them solids before 12 months, but the boy is hungry. He wants to nurse all the time.

My husband started giving him jars of fruit and peas and he inhales them. So this morning I tried whizzing some oats and mixing them with bananas. I hate using jarred foods because the initials foods are always applesauce, bananas-things that are basically constipating. I guess Cheerios aren't constipating. He hated the oats, but the faces he made were so funny. He would take a bite and object, and then giggle.

OK, I will not lie, this is just a blatant excuse to share one of my greatest joys-my Sweet Baby.

He's beautiful! Thanks for sharing. :-)

That is definitely one of the cutest babies I've ever seen...

Oh, as an afterthought,... it is the seeds in bananas that make them constipating. If you are making the purees yourself anyway, just take the seeds out. They are so small, most people don't even notice them, but they are there. You know how a banana separates easily into three parts from the middle if you squeeze it a bit? The seeds are all along those separations, tiny black things. Scrape them off and the puree shouldn't constipate anymore.

This tip I got from a friend of mine whose mother was a nurse from Holland, and quite into natural methods too.

he is adorable! what a chunk! ;)

Funny you mention jarred baby food. My 12 month old was force fed jarred apple sauce by my 4 year old today, without mom's permission, of course. I asked him to taste it, his only comment, Gee, I thought this was supposed to taste like apples. Try roasted garlic potatoes on your little guy, mine is in love with them, I make a pan once a week just for him, and then he keeps the vampires away, too.
