Jabba the Hutt

|

When I picture myself the image of Jabba the Hutt pops up. Me sitting here looking very large doing that Jabba laugh ordering my kids around like Bib Fortuna with Gorbulas on my lap like that Selacious Crumb guy who looked a lot like my Aunt Rosie.

I have reached new levels of laziness. Granted I am feeling quite fatigued which I suppose is normal at this stage. But I am ashamed of myself how much I am not moving. Yesterday morning I felt better and I did take a walk, but was tired in the afternoon and resumed the task of sitting.

Dinner seems like it takes forever to make. And then when dinner is done, there's that after dinner clean up which I never noticed before-dishes, wiping down the table, scrubbing the sink, vacuuming crumbs off the floor. I get tired thinking about it. I have gotten so bad, last night I saw a piece of paper on the floor and I stared at it for a long time thinking "I've got to bend down and reach over and get that.Yep, it's still there."

So please say a prayer for me. I have so much stuff to do before this baby and everyday my energy chips away as this load I am carrying seems to increase making it slightly harder. I have baby outfits to sew, corners to clean out (we are in the middle of "fall" cleaning), meals to cook in advance and freeze and school to teach.

Baby Update

I have had a hectic past three days. Monday I had to for my third level 2 ultrasound. I cannot remember if Peony mentioned but there was some concern that the baby's cerebral cortex was too large and the little guy might be hydrocephalic. They pretty much ruled that out, but wanted this last ultrasound just to be sure. Everything looks really, really good. There is new concern since I have gestational diabetes about the baby's development and they want to see me again on October 11. But so far the baby is a healthy size (about 5 lbs. something and in the 59th percentile oif you trust these things). He doesn't look top heavy, or malnourished and is starting to practice using his lungs. They gave me a picture of his face which is pretty clear. He looks so much like my Gorbulas, has cute chubby cheeks and lots of crazy hair like Gorbulas did. And he is still a boy.

My endocrinologist was concerned about my glucose numbers so he put me on insulin. I explained that I am trying really hard but am only able to keep my numbers below the 130 mark by sticking to an Atkins type diet. He said that he doesn't think it is anything that I am doing wrong, but I need the extra help. So I learned how to give myself insulin injections which really are not that bad at all. The drawback is since I am on insulin, I will have to be monitored while in labor and will have to have my finger pricked ecah hour to check my blood sugar. Gee, sounds like fun.

My echocardiogram from last week came out normal. I am glad I do not have heart problems. But I was kind of hoping they would find something small wrong that they could fix so I do not have to feel so out of breath when I walk across the room and I can resume taking my daily walks. Oh well.

But all in all, all is well and now the waiting game begins. Now that I know more about my new crazy haired little boy, I cannot wait to meet him. 34 weeks down, 6 to go.

Melody, The Pathetic Barn Kitten

| | Comments (4)

A couple of months ago my neighbor brought us one of his kittens which the kids fed, hugged and cuddled and named Legolas, much to our older cat, Chun Li's chagrin. Soon after, a kitten who could be a mirror image of Legolas appeared in our barn. Fastolph just adored her and named her Melody.

Now I did not want a third cat, more food, more shots and more temper tantrums from Chun Li who showed her dissapproval of Legolas by using Fastolph's bed as a litter box. Yuck.

Melody is so pathetic. She and Legolas touch paws at each other through the front screen window. She follows us around mewing when any of us go outside. The kids bring her bowls of food which I think other cats come and steal from her. Then I saw her drinking water one day out of a puddle out front after the rain. My husband bought her a flea and tick collar and pretty much we decided we will bring her in when we can get her shots and like flea dipped or something.

Although, Polo might change his mind when he comes home today and sees that she and Legolas made a hole in the screen window so she can get in.

On to a cheerier topic...

What should Pansy name her little boy?

My suggestions:

Pio
Raphael
Alphonsus
Rex
Ambrose
Giovanni Paolo

What other names should she consider?

Good morning.

So today is the third anniversary of 911. Three years went by fast. I really do not have many comments besides that. It was such an emotional (and still is) ordeal that anything I would attempt to put into words would fall short.

Pregnancy update-well my GD numbers were very good until I went to visit my MIL this past weekend and they went soaring. My doctor was not happy. In all honesty, while my MIL is not the healthiest cook (and is diabetic herself), on the surface I am not sure what really went wrong. Since I have been back home my numbers have been better except I got tired of eggs for breakfast one day and I had a bowl of oatmeal yesterday instead and I was at 170. I didn't know oatmeal was that bad, but I guess it is worse for different people.

In the meantime I have 7 weeks to go an I am still not ready. We still need name. I am also apprehensive about sleepless nights, liquid diapers-the newborn stuff. Not aprehensive to the point pf psychosis, just looking back on all of my other pregnancies, at this point I was feeling so done and ready to see the baby. Now I would not mind an extra week-or two.

Labor Day I got to meet Dinka. She and her family moved to Connecticut which is three hours from us, but like 45 minutes or less from most of my family who lives downstate. For the few years I have known her online, she has been in some other state that was someplace I would probably not venture to, now she is in the northeast. Cool.

We spent the day at the park just chillin'. She and Lincoln packed us an awesome picnic lunch (healthy too) and the men chased the kids around while Dinka and I talked Mommy Shop. Baby Veronika is as cute as her pictures ad quite pleasant as well. Fastolph spent the whole time talking about "shooting things" with paintballs-how embarrasing.

With summer coming to a close, Auriesville will be cosing soon and it will be back to finding a decent Mass without too much travel time again. Being able to go to Auriesville made me forget about the state of this diocese for now. Oh well.

Well back to Mommy duties...Pax!

Wow, I got on this time.

First, congrats to Davey's and Thomas's parents! Many blessings!

Thank you for the prayers as well. I was a little bummed to find out I had gestational diabetes, I suppose because 1) I was not sure what that meant and 2) I kind of feel like I do not need anything else on my plate. I am seeing an endocrinologist on Tuesday, but last Monday I met with the nutritionist. I am feeling much better because my eating habits turned out to not be so bad after all. She gave me a little glucose monitor, and so far my blood sugar seems OK, so I must be just on the border. But like Peony mentioned, the whole "well, after so many pregnancies, your body's abililty to cope has been reduced" thing is getting old.

The kids are well. As Peony mentioned, two weeks ago Rosie Posie won a blue ribbon for her cookies in the county fair. Last week they entered a race. Posco came in second fr his age group (8-10). Rosie Posie came in last, but she was not put off. The age group was 11-14, and she is 11. She was happy though because she ran the mile in 9 minutes and she ran the entire mile while many of the other kids had to stop and walk or drop out. She also did it with her shoelaces untied. She said she ws scared at first because many of the kids at the starting line were saying things like "I can beat these kids with no problem", as it turned out, those were many who had to stop and walk.

Posco's 9th birthday is on October 12 and he wanted very badly for his father to take him to the Usher concert. We actually considered it because he knows all the words to Confessions, Part 2 anyway. I know, I am a horrible mother. Well the tickets were $55 each anyway to see Usher, which is way to much. We censored much of what they got exposed to for years, but I got tired of listening to Veggie Tales in the car.

There is not much to tell, no news is good news, right? Fall is coming, some of the leaves are changing where we are. Polo has been chopping wood for winter. We went apple picking last weekend and I made apple butter and apple sauce. My neighbor came by with a sack of sweet corn yesterday. Summer went by to fast...

Well not much else until next time, pax.

News from Pansy

Just wanted to share a Pansy update. She and the family (including her little passenger) are by and large doing well.

Pansy is a little nervous and frustrated, though. The recent ultrasounds have been okay, but she has been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and is also having problems with periods of rapid heartbeat. So she's making the rounds of specialists. Somehow her OB's words of "comfort" -- "well, what do you expect after you've had so many babies?" -- aren't quite doing it for her. She would be grateful for prayers.

In other news, Rosey-Posey (age 11) took a blue ribbon at the Fair for her cookies! Congratulations!
